Climb Mount Kilimanjaro via the quiet and scenic northern route. Enjoy spectacular views, excellent acclimatization, fewer crowds, and a rewarding journey to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa with Kililocal Adventures.
Tour Overview
Discover why the Rongai Route is the only route approaching Kilimanjaro from the northern side.
The Rongai Route is the only route that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the north-eastern side, near the Kenyan border. This remote and less-traveled route offers a unique wilderness experience with stunning views of the mountain’s northern face and across the plains of Kenya.
Rongai is considered one of the easier routes due to its gradual ascent and lower crowds. The route passes through rainforest, heath, moorland, and alpine desert, connecting with the Marangu Route at Kibo Hut before the final summit push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
The 7-day itinerary provides good acclimatization opportunities with the “climb high, sleep low” strategy. The route is particularly popular during the rainy season on the southern side, as Rongai receives less precipitation.
This package includes airport transfers, two hotel nights in Moshi, all Kilimanjaro National Park fees, professional mountain guides, porters, emergency oxygen, camping equipment, delicious mountain meals, and full support from the experienced KiliLocal Adventures team.
