Stop 1: Scenic Drive & Marangu Gate Visit

Begin your journey with a morning pickup from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Enjoy a scenic drive through banana plantations, coffee farms, and traditional homesteads along Kilimanjaro’s foothills. Upon arrival at Marangu Gate (1,900m) — the historic starting point for all Kilimanjaro treks via the Marangu Route — you’ll have the opportunity to take pictures of the mighty Kilimanjaro and get a sense of the spirit of the mountain.

Stop 2: Chagga Village Walk & Ancient Caves

Meet your local cultural guide and begin a guided walk through Marangu Village. Visit traditional Chagga homes, banana plantations, and important cultural sites. Learn about Chagga customs, traditional food, farming methods, family traditions, and everyday village life.

Explore the Chagga Underground Caves — built nearly two centuries ago, these caves were historically used for protection during tribal conflicts. Your guide will explain the history of the caves, traditional leadership, and how local communities defended their families and livestock.

Stop 3: Traditional Coffee-Making Experience

Visit a local coffee farm and learn about the complete coffee-making process — from bean to brew! Participate in harvesting, roasting, grinding, and preparing coffee using traditional methods while enjoying local songs and stories.

Finish the experience by tasting a fresh cup of locally produced Tanzanian coffee made with your own hands.

Lunch Break – Traditional Chagga Cuisine

Enjoy a freshly prepared traditional lunch at a local family home or village restaurant. The meal features authentic Chagga or Tanzanian dishes, with vegetarian options available upon request.

Relax and take in the peaceful surroundings of Marangu Village.

Stop 4: Ndoro Waterfalls – Hike & Swimming

After lunch, take a guided walk through lush green village landscapes, banana farms, and coffee plantations to the beautiful Ndoro Waterfalls. The hike to the base of the waterfall takes approximately 1 hour through scenic forest trails.

Here you have the opportunity to relax, take a refreshing bath in the pool of the waterfall, and capture stunning photos surrounded by lush greenery.

Return to Moshi or Arusha

After completing the cultural and nature activities, meet your driver and begin the return journey to Moshi or Arusha.

Estimated arrival time: Late afternoon to early evening (depending on your pickup location).

Traveler will pay 20% of the total price to confirm the booking. The remaining balance will be paid upon arrival in Tanzania.
